Customer Review: Took it to the sandbox years ago, still strong!!
I bought one of these guys in 05' before heading off to Kuwait and Iraq. They withstood being crammed into a duffel bag, shipped overseas and back and worked in sandy conditions for the entire year I was over there. Half way through on leave, I decided to buy another one. When I got home I plugged both of them to my entertainment center, and left them on 24/7. Its been a year now, and never had a problem with either of them. They are so silent and trouble-free compared to my Fantom drive. Even when reading. Like I said they've both been pushing for about 2 years now without any crashes or support. And I wish I could boost the overall rating on this product way more than it is now.
Customer Review: DO NOT BUY!
After several months, my hard drive crashed and won't power up. After searching online, I found that this has happened to a lot of people with this drive. Seagate will replace the drive under warranty, but will charge at least $700 (upwards of serveral thousand)to recover any data. Even before it crashed it was buggy- randomly disconnecting from the computer and many write errors. My advice is to buy a different hard drive.
